Art is alive in Lycoming County!

This juried exhibition of fine art by regional artists features work in a variety of media, and showcases the unique vision and emerging aesthetic ideas within Lycoming County. Visit the exhibit to experience and interact with new and exciting contemporary artwork created by regional artists including: Chad Andrews, Paul Barrett, Marguerite Bierman, Brenda Blackwell, Donna Britton, Steve Buggy, Fred Gilmour, Casey Gleghorn, Jeremiah Johnson, Edward Jonasen, Richard Karp, John McKaig, Deborah Mezick, Penny Young Miller, Timothy Miller, Matthew Parrish, Veera Pfaffli, Roger Shipley, Theresa Crowley Spitler, Gary Steele, Jackie Thomas, Howard Tran, Ralph Wilson, and Maureen Wroblewski. A wide range of fascinating images are included in the exhibition, including behind-the-scenes and on-the-field images of the players, the icons, the visitors, and the historic moments. The images in the exhibition were selected from the archives of the Little League Museum and date from 1947-1990. This captivating exhibit will appeal to baseball, photography, and history fans of all ages!

In the Field of Play: The Little League Baseball World Series^®through the lens of Putsee Vannucci

July 12 – August 30, 2013
Opening Reception Friday, July 12, 2013, 5 – 7 p.m.

This photographic exhibition commemorates legendary Williamsport photographer Putsee Vannucci and celebrates his contributions to the visual history of the Little League Baseball World Series. Vannucci shot thousands of remarkable images and witnessed the expansion of the event from state to international.
A wide range of fascinating images are included in the exhibition, including behind-the-scenes and on-the-field images of the players, the icons, the visitors, and the historic moments. The images in the exhibition were selected from the archives of the Little League Museum and date from 1947-1990. This captivating exhibit will appeal to baseball, photography, and history fans of all ages!

Meet the Artist Reception Tuesday, September 10, 2013, 4:30 – 6:30 p.m., Gallery talk at 5:30 p.m. As part of his research into multicultural identity and the positioning of Native American artists in a contemporary context, Olszewski retraced the Trail of Tears from Georgia to Oklahoma. This exhibit features two-dimensional work created as a result of this trek. The artist is an active member of the Chippewas of Rama Mnjikaning First Nation, and is a professor of foundation studies at Savannah College of Art and Design.

Lauren Kinney & Patrick Vincent: A Darkness

October 11 - November 10, 2013

Meet the Artists Reception Tuesday, October 15, 4:30 - 6:30 p.m., Gallery talk at 5:30 p.m.

For centuries the graphic traditions of woodcarving and printmaking have used darkness to articulate the split between seen and unseen, reality and myth, waking and dreaming. Fairy tales dramatize and give shape to what is hidden and lives in shadow. Patrick Vincent surveys the interconnection of animal and human in folk tales and fairy tales, and Lauren Kinney uses hidden pictures, symbols, and patterns to weave collected imagery into narrative. Kinney received a BA in printmaking from Humboldt State University. Vincent received a BFA from the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities. Both artists earned their MFA in printmaking from the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, Arizona State University.
